Le Mans-Flair in the Motodrom

With the Prototype Cup Germany, visitors to the ADAC Hockenheim Historic can expect a very special treat: The racing series will complete its fourth season in 2025. Vehicles from the Le Mans Prototype 3 category, known worldwide by the abbreviation LMP3, will be on the grid. The ADAC has secured the exclusive long-term rights to the LMP3 class for Germany from the rights holder Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the organiser of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

An LMP3 is a racing car through and through. Unlike GT cars, the prototypes are not based on a road car. Chassis are offered by the four licensed manufacturers Adess, Duqueine, Ginetta and Ligier. Propulsion is provided by a V8 unit engine from Nissan, which delivers around 455 hp. An LMP3 weighs 950 kilograms. Michelin is the exclusive tyre partner of the Prototype Cup Germany.

Two races lasting just under an hour will be held at the weekend. A pit stop in the middle of the race is mandatory. If two drivers share a car, there will also be a driver change at the stop. After the ADAC Hockenheim Historic, the series will start four more times this year as part of the DTM.
