ChromeCars once again brought five JPS Lotus from its “Black&Gold Collection” to the start in Monaco in 2024. Marco Werner drove two of these top-class cars in Monte Carlo. In “Grid E”, Werner started third in Ronnie Peterson’s Lotus 76 behind pole sitter Stuart Hall and teammate Nick Padmore, who drove the Lotus 77 from Britec Motorsports.
With a good start, Werner got himself directly in front of Nick Padmore and tried to follow Stuart Hall in the McLaren. But Stuart Hall was once again unstoppable and opened up a clear gap on the rest of the field. Marco Werner had problems with the second gear and this time he was unable to pull away from Nick Padmore. As the problems got worse and worse, Werner pitted in second place and retired. Nick Padmore saved the team’s honor and took second place behind Stuart Hall in the Lotus 77 for ChromeCars and Britec Motorsports. Michael Lyons finished third in his James Hunt McLaren M26.
In the “Series G”, Marco Werner started from the front row in the ChromeCars Lotus 87B that was once driven by Nigel Mansell. On pole position again was Stuart Hall, who drove a March 821. Behind Hall, all three ChromeCars Lotus with Marco Werner, Michael Lyons (Lotus 92) and Nick Padmore in the historic “double-chassis” Lotus. In “Series G” after the start, it was the same picture as in “Series E”, Stuart Hall was unbeatable and drove ahead of his opponents. The winner of 2022, Marco Werner, was unable to follow Hall and crossed the finish line in second place. Michael Lyons in the ChromeCars Lotus 92 completed the podium. Nick Padmore had to retire from the race in the Lotus 88 with a steering problem.
